Just moved into an apartment and we had RTE1,RTE2 and TV3 on our tv in our bedroom via a co axial cable point in the wall. Got UPC installed upstairs last week and its works fine but we have lost the three channels in our bedroom completely. No signal at all. Rang UPC and they basically said, you can only have one or the other. They hadn't a breeze. Can someone please enlighten as to how this happens and is there a way around it.
    Thanks

The box in your bedroom and the box downstairs are effectively linked, they run off the same feed coming into the apartment.

My suspicion here is that there's a shared aerial on the roof of the apartment block which all units are connected to by default. This provides standard 4-channel reception in all units. When UPC come in, they just switch your unit onto their feed, but this has the effect of removing your access to the aerial on the roof.

Have you tried just rescanning for channels on the TV upstairs?

Your only other option is to get an aerial for the TV upstairs and try to get some signal.

Thanks for the quick reply. Well explained. I have tried rescanning to no avail. Think I'll have to get an aerial. Thanks.
