    Can anybody help me please?

I have a sony vaio laptop. the lcd screen was broken and the hinges too. i used an external monitor through the VGA port and the laptop was working fine. Last week i removed the LCD display from the laptop including the wires from motherboard to LCD display unit.. Now I cant see anything on my external display. Is it necessary that the Screen must be there connected inorder to work.
(((((in old computers there is a "Keyboard Error" message if the keyboard is not connected ))))
    is this situation like that?

Please advice me in this matter.. Thanks
