I had an iphone 3g and then got htc desire hd,I find it miles better than an iphone or any iphone 3gs/4 for that matter.

I cant really fault it,the os on it is great,im on cyanmoid and its stable, battery life is great, can customise it,basically everything. The hardware on my phone is solid, there a good build,I droped it a few times and not a bother to it,good camera, good speaker on it, i could keep going about it.

When I am using the iphone4 its just boring to use.
I cant say much about the s2 but if its anything like the desire id say go for it.

Im sure someone else on the fourm will talk about the s2 but overall im very impressed with android!

Personally I'd go for the sensation or evo3d over the galaxys2 but out of iPhone and galaxy then I'd go for galaxy. IPhone is a very capable phone but android are always gonna win over it.

Just swapped an iphone 3GS for a SGS2 today - phone is excellent but still getting used to it. Bit frustrated at the moment however trying to sync everything up

Just bought a Galaxy S2 today sold Iphone 4. Syncing with gmail and my contacts synced no problems. Got them into Gmail via importing vcard which I extracted from Iphone backup

Looks good so far, personally I fancied a change iOS after 3-4 years was getting tedious and I fancied a change. Maybe when iOS 5 comes out ill come crawling back.

Kies download should be able to assist with importing contacts

I used android for a while. Seemed good at first but after a while a lot of niggly things started to annoy me. Things that were never an issue with an iPhone.

I recently got a Windows Phone 7 and it's much better (IMHO) than Android, although not as good as iPhone.

Android has a lot of 'sparkle' but gets the core bits wrong (for me anyway) while iPhone and WP7 focus on making what you need your phone-to-do work.

Again, just my opinion. Sticking with a HTC Trophy at the moment but comtemplating a 4S.

Your comparing operating systems with phones there, doesn't make much sense comparing them and saying you used Android is pointless without clarifying the device you used.

Many of Androids problems are down to manufacturers manipulating it with their own software and in the end creating a worse user experience than vanilla Android.

That said iOS is still miles ahead of Android when it comes to basic users.

Interesting, I've only hear it the other way. What kind of issues?

    Lots of different ones.
    • Instability
    • lack of the 'magnifying' lense for placing a cursor in text,
    • battery length issues (sometimes a day, other times it would only last a few hours... and i do know how to work the task manager),
    • random slowness (sometimes the phone would just crawl for no reason)
    • lack of updates
    • etc...

Of course i'm comparing operating systems. That's the difference between them. Although that's the main problem with android: fragmentation. With an iPhone you know what you are getting, same with WP7, but with android it depends on the manufacturer and the model.

I used a Motorola Defy and had all the issues above. With iPhone i didn't have those issues, neither with a WP7.

I could have hacked it, removed blur and a load of other things but i don't have to do that with iPhone or WP7 so i choose to use them.

With my Android (Desire HD, non rooted) I have none of the issues apart from the lack of a magnifying lense. Which doesn't sound like an issue. So it was your phone. It could have even been a faulty phone. Did you reproduce your issues on another phone?

I think your main issue is that Android is available on too many phones. To others that's a strength rather than an issue.

Don't remember the exact terminology and not gonna bother either. "Task manager" is understandable.

Could all be user error... all 'user' errors I don't get on any other phone.

What's a good android phone? I've seen similar issues on HTC (Desire/Desire HD/Legend) and Samsung (albeit not a Galaxy S/2).

Personally i'd rather not waste any more money on an Android phone when i know there are good alternatives out there.

Now... there's no denying android is fantastic if you are a geek and love modding your phone... but for everyday people i think the alternatives are as good or better.

Using a task manager/task killer ****s the phone up. You were the one messing around with the phone when you didn't have to.

And again: motorola are terrible. You are absolutely right to say you had a bad experience with motorola and boycott them, but don't extend this to ALL of android.

If you have a 4.3inch screen you wont need the cursor magnifier.:D

Task manager in the way windows has a task manager. The built in program which allows you to see what's using CPU time/battery power.

And I had bad experience with HTC too.

There is a magnifier for text. Just long press on the word and move your finger to where you want the cursor and it pops up. I'm using a Desire HD with the stock Android 2.3.3 ROM and it's on that anyway.

Re the lack of updates, that's down to the network. My phone has no network branding (no Meteor startup logo, no Meteor wallpaper), and receives updates as soon as HTC churn them out. If you don't like the HTC look, at least you can easily root and flash a ROM you like. I haven't had the time nor inclination at the moment, but I think I'll chance it soon. :)

OP, I have a HTC Sensation, fantastic phone I love it to bits. Unfortunately I got a new job and the company only supports iPhones so I have to swap. If you are intersted in swapping please let me know.http://www.adverts.ie/mobile-phones/htc-sensation/1022538
