I'm not really sure what section to post this in but I'm having trouble getting Ubuntu 10.10 to run inside Windows Virtual machine (in win 7).
I created a virtual disk and virtual machine from the ubuntu ISO and everything installed fine until reboot time. I got as far as the GRUB menu but no matter what option I select WVM just closes down with no error a coupe of seconds later.

I don't have much experience with WVM so have no idea what might be causing it to not want to continue.

I use oracle's virtual box for virtual machines, and it runs a lot better than most others ive tried.

alternatively, why dont you dual boot ubuntu with windows 7?
you can easily get th wubi installer for windows, and that will setup suitable partition, bootloader, and install everything for you. it even downloads the iso etc and wont affect windows at all.

I would definitely give it a run in a virtual machine before deciding to take the leap and dual-booting.

Virtual Box is better than Windows Virtual PC. :)
