    Hi All

I am 29y/o male going bald and have recently being prescribed Finasteride (Proscar) 1.25mg/day, however I am not convincened on takin it as I have read so many contradicting posts on various forums. If anyone has any experience with the drug or know somebody that it is takin it I would greatly appreciate any information be it positive\negative results.

    cheers.

Hi, I looked into this for another condition last year.

Branded propecia in USoA I didn't think it was being prescribed over here.

Anyway, side effects are not good by all accounts. Moobs, moonface and, if you stop taking it, the hair falls out again.

    It's also expensive!

Here's the thing, shave your head and go with the bald look. You'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner.

    HTH ;)

Did you take the drug and for how long?

    Hi,

I decided not to take it in the end, health Vs pride, I chose health :)
Advocates will tell you it's all fine and the side-effects are only noted for a small number of people (I think it's < 10%).
Do a search on pubmed, loads of peer reviewed data there.

Also, my circumstances were a smidgeen different.

Either way, know this, the emotional / psychological effects of going bald can be huge, so don't think it's odd for asking the question though or looking to sort it out. It can give your confidence a real kick in the balls.

Good luck with it if you do decide to go that route!

According to Joe Rogan/ Rogaine it completely killed his libido and he felt less energy in the gym, so he stopped taking it and everything returned to normal. He's a TV presenter and he admits that his hair is a vital part of his job, yet he still rathers going bald than messing with Propecia.

nd2no How much did your prescription cost? I used finasteride (ordered online) for a couple of years and it really worked, but the last package (from India) was intercepted in the post. I was thinking of going to my doctor to see if he'll prescribe it for me.
