Cars abandoned in Apartment complex

My girlfriend lives in an apartment complex and I took a walk around the underground car park the other day to find a number of cars that appear to be abandoned. (Dirt and dust thick on the windscreen) Right next to her space is an English Reg Passat that hasn't been moved since she moved in 14 months ago, no MOT, tax or insurance discs.

I'm wondering if it's a common thing and should it be brought to the attention of anyone? I remember a person in the motors forum had a blue VW Scirocco stolen and sure enough there is one in the carpark that has been static for a long time. Probably innocent, but you never know.

Report it to the management company. Do remember, though, that the cars might be quite legitimately kept there.

A little vigilance can reunite people with there stolen cars.

If all else fails, ring up one of the lovely metal-dealer lads and have them tow away the cars. At least 50quid each...:D (joking)

I was reading that thread and it's what prompted my posting. Especially the bit about the changed plates!

I'll get some pictures up when I'm there next.

I wouldn't be so hasty in doing so! I know if I had an apartment with an underground carpark I'd have my convertible parked up there for the winter safe & sound. Probably not taxed as it would be parked up for the winter.

The only parking spots someone should get excited about are the ones that they own/rent.

How is this any of your business? You don't live there, you don't explain the parking arrangements, you have no idea about who owns what, but you'll piss around with your camera anyway.

I live in a block of apartments, I own my own space and park whatever I want there, It's not my concern who parks what they want in their own space. If every random who rented there let her current bloke wander around the carpark, then I wouldn't be too happy.

He made an observation that he wants to wander around a block of apartments, that he has no financial interest in, and post pictures of cars there.

Would it bother you if you walked out of your house and some stranger was standing in your drive taking pics of your car to post on the internet in case it was stolen?

Don't - it's private property, and it's really not your place to do so. If you're concerned you can suggest to your GF that she contact the management company to enquire about the cars, but the owners of those spaces are perfectly entitled to use them as they see fit.
