I was at the iPhone 4 launch. Unless you have all day or want to pay for parking all day, get up there early. I arrived at 11am and queued til about 4.

As a bona fide Apple fan, I won't be buying a 4S. Its an utterly pointless upgrade in my opinion. The only thing different I can see is that is half way useful is dual core. And even the 4 is blisteringly fast, which will run iOS 5 anyway. Personally, if someone has an iPhone 4, you'd have to absolutely barking mad to drop another €600 on a 4S.

Up to you man, but it goes on sale at 8am so i'd presume there will still be demand for it if im honest.

I'd rarther go early and get one and then enjoy the walk around Victoria Square with the GF (takes the edge off spending 600e on a phone :D), rarther than take the chance, go late and not to get one.

This article seems to back up my point - http://www.redmondpie.com/most-successful-iphone-launch-ever-iphone-4s-was-pre-ordered-over-a-million-times-in-first-24-hours/

Maybe they will allow advance orders for shipping on the 28th closer to the actual Eire release date.

    +1
they should allow pre-order for delivery to start on the 28th at least.

4am perhaps. I got there last year at 7:30 and I had one reserved, was out by 12:00.

I though that, someone posted on mac rumours that some apple stores weren't getting sim free ones, he must of been trolling, s
There wouldn't be such a demand if they didn't have them sim free!

prepare for a spate of these selling for €1,000 odd on adverts.ie

they wont sell on adverts at that price this year. The iphone has more availability in the south this time roumd due to all the majot networks having it.

for instance, last year, only one network had it IIRC, O2. that made buying up north beneficial and then buying one to sell down here, which i did myself as they couldnt be got here for a couple of months after the UK launch, where as this year the UK launch is only 2 weeks beforehand.

As did three to the best of my knowledge. Furthermore, does Adverts.ie not prohibit blatant price gouging like that? I thought it did.

Only when the item is selling for above the RRP for Ireland.

If the iPhone 4S is released in the UK, and while its not available in Ireland, the seller can advertise it for as much as he/she wants, and they are not breaking and rules of adverts.ie.

Three didn't have it at that time, they got it a few months later iirc.

I got it from 3 the same day it was released on O2, Vodafone etc. here

Ah, it seemed like longer. I got mine on international release day, so didn't really follow the Irish release. I know 3 didn't carry the iPhone at all at that stage (if they had, I might not have been able to contain myself and would likely have ended up with a 3GS due to a lack of patience to wait for the 4!!).

Went up last year for iPhone 4 launch.

My house (swords) to Victoria Square took 1.20ish

Got there at 7am last year and there was a solid 50-70 people in front of me, so this year I'm gonna aim slightly earlier.

TBH I don't think there'll be as many people as iPhone 4 launch.

ah that'll do!, and did you get the model you wanted at 7am? would 5.30 be early enough, never done this queueing for an iPhone before got the 3gs a few weeks later and the 4 a couple of months later

I got free StarBucks and jellys for the 4 launch. Still can't believe people are queuing for this, even as a self professed apple fan boy. Probably the worst investment in history if you currently own a 4.

Would have to agree to be honest. I have a shuffle, a Nano, a Touch, an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2. I would love a Mac Book Pro but cant justify it when I have a PC, Sony Vaio laptop and Google TV, but an iPhone 4S when you have an iPhone 4 is even harder to justify.

    Recession, what recession?? ;)
