Was driving home from a 24hour shift this morning at around 11am. Just after coming off the motarway and heading for ferns, there was a camera van, i looked at my speed and it was at about 102km/hr or 103km/hr in an 100km/hr zone. I slowed instantly but dunno if i did in time. ive heard that a car's speedometer is 10% out is that true? Also is there room for error ie no points or fine when its only just over? I cant have any points on my liscence for work or i cant use the company cars....

your correct they say your speedo can be out by as much as 10% tyre wear etc all affects the accuracy.

103/104kph you'll be grand either way

It's out by at least 4km/h, that because of an international regulation that requires speedos to over read by 4km/h + anything between 0-10%. At an indicated speed of 103km/h your true speed would have been 99km/h or less. Don't assume it's always 10% though ;).
