Fans of thriller/horror will be well aware of the career of David Hess starring in two of the most controversial films of the 70's, Wes Craven's "Last House on the Left" and Ruggero Deodato's "The House on the Edge of the Park" which both contained extremely graphic scenes of sexual violence.

Hess was also an accomplished songwriter writing several songs for Elvis Presley and even bagging a Grammy for his musical "The Naked Carmen".

RIP I can't say I've seen anything he's been in recently, but very memorable 'House on the Edge of the Park' and memorable I mean super sleazy/creepy

Posted about this in the horror forum when I heard the other day.Aged 69 and he died suddenly of a heart attack.

Judging by the comments on his Facebook page he was an absolute gentleman that always made time for his fans.

Certainly one of a kind and I believe that because of his roles in Last House and House on the Edge,he was somewhat stunted from having a career in more mainstream cinema, tis a pity.

    RIP.

I've always liked Hess, he came across as a genuinely decent bloke who appreciate his fans and never took his fame for granted. It's true that he never had the career he should have had as a result of the roles he picked, as good a performance as he gives in Last House it closed a lot of doors.

What i always find most surprising is that so few people are aware of what a talented musician he was. He wrote numerous songs for Elvis and recorded a lot of music under his own name. He's best know for scoring Last House and he does a magnificent job it must be said.
