Well down to the final 4 now so who do you think will do it.

Wales seem to have been the only team will a convincing performance in the quarters however France, NZ and Oz all know how to play big games. So who do you think it will be at this point

It's the AB's to lose at this stage. They werent great today (though were playing an underrated side who were always going to be better than people give them credit for), but in the end of the day Australia were very lucky to win today. Very very lucky.

You just know that the AB's wont wanna play France in the final though given what happened in 1999 and 2007 :D

Yes, Australia were 'lucky' because SA couldn't use their extensive possession to their advantage. Am thoroughly impressed how well Aust kept them at bay, but then I am biased :D

I suppose Ireland were 'lucky' as well that Pococke didn't play against Ireland.

I really am tired of this 'lucky' sentiment. You either win or you don't.

I really can't call the final. I have no idea. I'd like it to be Wales v Aust, though :)

Ah come on! While obviously they were thrilled with the win, the aussie pundits admitted they were extremely lucky and had no idea how they managed to win the game like that, and that they will not get away with playing like that against the AB's.

Maybe SA should have got a few goals or tries in when they had the chance. They were certainly given ample opportunity. Why was it so close? Because SA didn't take the chances offered to them.

The Aussies defended for their life for the entire match. Would all teams be able to do that under such pressure?

Who knows what will happen with the ABs. They certainly showed how they cope under pressure today - and it is the only match where they have actually had to fight for their lives. Am not taking anything away from their win as once they were ahead they seemed to be flying it. However, historically they are not great under pressure. I think we all know that.

    Can't wait for the match.

Australia - France in the final for sure.

    Australia should edge it.

The 1987 competition was hosted in NZ/Australia, and funny enough the same teams Australia, New Zealand, Wales and France that were in it back then in the semi final stages have come through again in 2011. Its funny how history repeats itself.

I think New Zealand will beat Australia and I reckon France could thrash Wales as they know now what Wales are capable of and in my opinion will counteract that. Wales dont have a good record against France and France on their day could beat any team.

New Zealand v France in the final with the All Blacks winning comfortably.

I want anyone but NZ to win. Don't like 'em, not sure why. I fancy France to do it, i think NZ will freak if they meet them in the final.

I think NZ will do it but I'm supporting the Welsh all the way now. I think they'll make it to the final.

All Blacks should win it now.

I think if NZ sort out their 10 issues they'll be hard to stop.

Australia aren't good enough. France and Wales are both excellent but NZ are better.

Hard to call but I'd stick with NZ. I can't see France putting 3 good games together. They're like Ireland in that regard. Wales are in form and crucially have avoided injuries. NZ scrum should punish the Wallabies and they have the incentive having lost out in the Tri-Nations. Wales NZ final with the Kiwis winning out. But it could be any of the 4. No one team is standing out bar the Welsh I suppose. Could they handle the expectation if they got to a final?

NZ to beat Wales in final!

France to beat Wales and NZ to beat Aus. France to put together 80 minutes of spellbinding rugby and be crowned World Champions, The IRFU to call lievremont and offer him DK's job. Ireland to start another rollcoaster ride with a Head coach with serious flaws.

Imagine if France won it, it would make journalist pundits and Internet fora just say WTF?

Can't see France winning it, to put three games together with no manager would be amazing.
Although I have them and Australia backed ew so would be a good final tho!

I think NZ will win it. Even without a 10, they're the most complete team left.

Funny that the final 4 teams have very young, and very ball handling ohs, if you count trin duc.

All Blacks vs France in the Final - please - for a proper pay back Judgement Day! If Quade Cooper can just keep his present poor run of form going for one more game, I thought he looked completely headless today. Anybody who hasn't watched him in the Super 15 must be wondering what everybody has been raving about. On his day he's fantastic to watch but not recently. :D

    All Blacks to win wc

All Blacks have no 10 and are vunerable, I don't think they're playing too well and I think France are hitting form, for whatever reason, at the right time.

NZ v France final with France to win. (I'd like to see either France OR Abs win WC, or Wales for that matter - Not Oz purely because they've got a couple already and have been poor all tournament.)

France to win it against NZ

Love to see Wales win it ,Would be great for the sport ,And Honestly I think they have a good chance ,
They're biggest challenge in a strange way (if you want i mean )will be over coming France .

If they can get to the final.... on the day who knows ,anything can happen.

As for the other semi , All logic says NZ and to most sane people it will be NZ
    .... but ...
If you take in the history , rivalry and everything else associated with a New Zealand v Austraila game ,It just raises one or two little question /doubts.

    Wales v New Zealand Final
    With Wales shocking the world......

    Maybe:)

I really fancied the AB to win it at the start but they've somehow managed to make it harder on themselves, injuries etc, maybe they're not destined to win it !! My money is on France now, peaking at the right time, but in fairness they all have a great chance.

Hope its a NZ v France final and NZ to win it. They are the best team in the World and play the best rugby.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

It's anyone's to win at this point. Form goes out the window - there are 2 one-off cup matches and anything can and will happen.

Wales are inexperienced but playing incredibly well. NZ are on the back foot. Australia are being "lucky" on a consistent basis. France are... being France.

That said, I don't think France have the consistency to play well 3 games in a row. If they have a poor game against Wales and still win, then I'd vote for them to beat whoever they meet in the final. If they play well against Wales in a tough match and sneak it then I think they'll go down in the final.

If I had to bet (and I wouldn't risk good money on it) I'd go Australia-Wales-NZ-France, or Australia-NZ-Wales-France.

The Bro's are still the team to beat, just hope we can keep up the good run of form luck we are having for Sunday.

Luck is definitely on your side - quite how you beat the Boks is beyond me, the team, the coaching staff and the spectators. :D

Well i could sprook on about grit and determination against the Boks but i could not keep a straight face doing it.

But in saying that the fact that we had to defend 4 times as much, they had us bent over in the scrum and line out and they still could not put us away only means that the Boks certainly did not deserve to win either, so i suggest we will call it a shoddy draw.

    Aussies all the way.

    it coulda been us.
i need time off from rugby.
