    Howdy all,

After a tackle with the front bumper of a car, my rear mavic aksium is no more. The rim is cracked in two but there seems to be no damage to the hub or spokes.

The driver has replaced the wheel now so I was thinking I might as well get a new rim to match the old hub and use it as a backup.

Anybody have any ideas where I could pick a 20h rim? Nothing too expensive, will just be a backup. Can only see this DT Swiss which is a bit pricey for me unfortunately.

    All ideas appreciated, cheers.

Not sure how good an idea it is to reuse the spokes but if you do decide to do that, you will need to match the old rim ERD exactly. That might be a big ask

Will using new spokes make the matter a whole lot easier?

yes. You will be able to pick the spoke sizes based on the new rim you buy. Lots of choices here or here. This is how you normally build a wheel. Pick the spokes based on the hub + rim

Consider me schooled, thanks for the advice.

I'd like to hang onto it for the moment so I can get a spare wheel out of it, thanks for the interest.

I have an old 20h Aksium rim given to me for free by boardsie SomeFool. I've just received another set of aksiums so you can have this one for the same price...
