blocking a website

    sorry if this has been asked before but i was wondering is there software that will block websites from my laptop, basically i want to stop certain websites being accessed by other people.thanks

    You can also use the hosts file to block websites. Try google to see how, for instance: http://www.spywarevoid.com/how-to-block-malicious-websites-using-hosts-file

    There are a few ways to block a site.

    Password protect the pc.

    Add the site to the hosts file.

    Install OpenDNS.

    Set up a new user on the machine.

    Just as a warning though all these methods can be circumvented if the person knows how. And to be honest they'll find a way.

    OpenDNS doesnt work for some connections... or if you move that laptop/desktop to a new locations... A client based solution would be K9... I have found it useful..
