Hi, I've read the charter and this seems like the best place to put this.

It's my mothers 50th at the end of this month and she's always said her ideal present would either of the two cars I have in the thread title, preferrably in white. I'm only 22 so I can't afford to buy her one, I'd really like to rent her one for the day though, maybe put a big bow on it and we'll go for a spin.

I've rung Hertz, as well as a couple of wedding car hire places but I'm getting nowhere. Hertz no longer carry either of these cars in their Dublin fleet, only the Audi A1 which isn't really what I was looking for. Wedding car places won't rent it to me without a chauffeur, which I'd rather not, as well as this, I can only find one place that rents them out and it's based in Antrim, not ideal as we're in Dublin.

All she'll really want is to drive around in it for a few hours and have a laugh. I only want it for one over-night and I'd really like to not end up having to spend a fortune.

Can anyone help me out? I seem to have come to a dead with googling, I'm just getting the same places over and over again. Is there a similar company to Hertz who operate from Dublin?

I'd appreciate any help at all!

    Thanks in advance,

    Michelle

Will be difficult otherwise. I know the guys at miniclub.ie got some rental MINI's (think it was MINI ONE diesel) in the past for overseas visitors to large club runs. Not sure if it was Hertz or Avis.

Thanks for that! :) Do they rent out cars? She'd have no real interest in Rally driving.. and the days I'd need it for are week days so we'd like to have it over night and get a bit of use out of it!

Oh i forgot about Avis! i'll give them a ring now! thanks

Edit: Nope, they don't have either of them in their fleet. The woman in Avis though said to check out the specialist car dealers, do you know what she meant by that?

Save yourself the cost of a phone call - they have nothing fun on fleet.

Doubt it, those cars wouldn't be insured for road use at all I'd say!

Yeah just found out there. I can't find anything online, plenty of the older style VW beetles on wedding car websites but nothing new really except for the one place in Antrim who won't rent it out without the driver.

Are there any small car hire firms around?

Worth it be worth my time to ring a dealership for either of them and see if they'd rent it to me? With a hefty collateral of course.

Contact a vw/mini dealer and see if they offer extended test drive or ask can you hire a test model for a day. UK dealers do , dont know about here.

Might be worth a call to here - http://www.euromobil.ie/location.asp they seem to be VW Ireland's in house rental service. Might have a Beetle somewhere.

Otherwise, may be worth talking to a Mini dealer and explaining the situation. They might be able to help - batting eyelashes at the salesman may be of assistance :D

Time to get the wonderbra out :pac:

I'll give euromobil a ring and see what happens. If I get nowhere I'll start calling dealers.

Thanks for all the suggestions, really appreciate it! :)

Rent one up in Belfast depending on how far you live from there. Dont know if they would allow you to take it into republic though.

The coastal route around Antrim is a nice drive if you were to go that route.
