Pixar TV Shows

Was going throug hsome articles about Pixar when I came across thsi great piece about the future of Pixar.

    http://uk.ibtimes.com/articles/226459/20111006/steve-jobs-died-pixar-disney-john-lasseter-toy-story-george-lucas.htm

Basically this piece jumped out at me:
Pixar is also expanding. In April 2010, Pixar opened up a new 2,000 square meter studio in downtown Vancouver for the sake of producing TV specials and shorts based on characters from Pixar films. Pixar has already teamed up with Disney to produce animated TV series based off "Toy Story"'s Buzz Lightyear and "Cars"' tow truck Mater, but if more Pixar characters are coming to TV, the company really could've used the steady, guiding hands of Jobs during this transition period.

With the demise of The Simpsons, and the over the top/un-pc mashup of adult humour of Family Guy and the adolescenct tone of South Park I am thinking there is a huge gap in the market for some honest, charming, and good down to earth depth in characters on an Animated TV show.

While I would love to see some Pixar TV shows on regular weekly basis as noted above I would have some reservations about using pre-existing characters. I think its lazy and cheap. I think it would be much more interesting to see a new batch of characters even ones that exist in the same 'Universe' ( to borrow a comic book analogy) as our existing favourites.

Anybody have any thoughts? Excited? Nervous? Un-interested? Any characters you would love to watch on a series?

I would personally love a Monsters Inc styel show akin to Quantum Leap whereby they drop into troubled childrens lives and help them... (cheesey I know)
