C&C Martial Arts/NUIG Fight Night

I was taking photos at the recent NUIG Fight Night. They say boxing is 10% physical, 90% mental so 90% of these photos are mental

I commented on them a bit myself; I like these photos but each could be a bit better. It was my first try at this, will seek out a local boxing club and take some more soon.

    1. Boxing Abstract. I didn't quiet get the effect I was looking for:

    F5AFD2E2A4684D80813A5C069260FBDD-0000332953-0002577277-00800L-03E9341B429847C6B20C53D8C9863FDE.jpg

And the rest are B&W. For some reason B&W look a lot better for boxing/martial arts than colour I think:
    2. I know, the fecken arm's in the way

    3. I like the composition/rope but it'd be better if they weren't 'looking at his feet'...

    E725FC7D2DB4466B9B6C65A508B90BC4-0000332953-0002577281-00800L-2427D262E4F54207B831027EC2622725.jpg

    4. woudl be better if I could see the boxers eyes but I still like this one. 'Don't give up, you can do it'.

    E75F6BFB2F4E454D903F3AE43CD605FE-0000332953-0002577280-00800L-EA87A85D917045118143D31ACD305F52.jpg

    5. They're plotting to kill me.

    6. the light is wrong....

    8. slightly out of focus but I still like it

    9. pity this wasn't a flooring punch...

    I like no. 3, 4 & 8.
The darkness in the back ground gives them great atmosphere and a sinister type of feeling. I dont take anything from no 01 as it is not clear what it is and the out of focus one is as you said out of focus (thus dont use it).

Geee, thanks guys! A mere 1 comment....
I don't know if people thought the photos were mundane/boring....

Some really nice images there. Shame there wasn't some action shots (aside from the last grouping).

I like the B&W, but think you should have stuck to a single method of processing rather than the varied tones.

I have some action photos, was just posting non action here.
I was going to post up some action photos later but after the virtual lack of comments didnt' bother. I might add some this evening.

I would agree with Paul regards the processing, me personally I like to see consistency in a set of pictures.

You have to be ruthless with the choice too, go back through the 9 pictures posted and half the amount. Some good pictures in there

Thanks for the comment. But for me the point of C&C is that I can learn for comments & other peoples opinions. So if I post only my best/fav photos then I'm not learning as much as I could. With the 'best of the rest' photos I might learn/get a new idea from from comments.

4,5,6 and one from 9 would be the best from the set imo. They tell a better story of the event than the others
