    Anyone else as astonished and bewildered as to why the GAA and Centra Council passed the motion to change the National Hurling League format to that which is currently on the table for next year? What lunatics in their right mind that it a good idea, proposed and seconded it and voted it in place? The more I think of it, the more astonished at the stupidity of it.
    The new proposal isnt much better, they've just added an extra game.
    Why cant they go back to how they had it 4 or 5 years ago - i.e. 12 teams, 2 groups of 6, open draw, top team in each group into the semi-final, teams second and third into quarter final and bottom 2 relegation battle. It'll mean that no one will want to finish 4th or 5th and there will be no dead rubber games. It'll also mean that young emerging teams like Clare and Offaly get a chance to have a shot at the likes of Kilkenny or Tipp.
    I understand also that a lot of predominantly football counties proposed this ludicrous new structure.

    Its a load of bollocks but its essentially a cost cutting exercise, these games don't bring in enough gate receipts to justify accommodation, travel fees etc so they just cut back the games.
