    Hi Guys,
I'm a total novice when it comes to this type of thing. Basically, new house, moved in last year, heating worked grand last winter, tried to get it going today and no joy :( Gas boiler is coming on grand, and it's making all the noises I'm expecting to hear....but the rads, both upstairs and down are staying stone cold. Checked the pipes coming from the gas boiler, they're both staying cold aswell. There's two motorised switches on them, both seem to be working fine as they're moving when the thermostat switches on&off, I've tried turning all the rads off, just turning one on, turning them all on full tilt..no joy..I'm stumped!! any advice much appreciated. I've attached a few pix of the setup if that helps?

Thermostats on the wall, generally in the hallway.

Turn them up high and see if the heating comes through.

It probably is those motorised valves... I've replaced loads of them. They seem like they work fine - light comes on etc - but they open for a few seconds and close again thus preventing circulaion.
Move both of the levers (on top) fully to the left and then pull slightly towards you then gently release the sideways pressure until it "locks" into the deepest part of the slot. Try the heating then and let me know how you get on.

The circulating pump might be stuck.

k, tried whacking the thermostats up full, nothing doing. The motorised valves seem fine, they look like they're opening in direct relation to the stats, i.e. the higher I set the temperature the more they open, so I don't really wanna go messing around with them.
autojopimur I was thinking that myself, it seems as if the water is just not circulatiing, is there anything I can do to fix that? I've no idea where the pump is, there is one in the hotpress that kicks in for the shower, I'm presuming it's not the same one? I've got switches, one downstairs (pic attached) a few in the hotpress!! could it be something as simple as the fuse in these?

Open the boiler casing, the pump will be obvious, ( large round object) undo the large centre screw, insert a screwdriver and locate the pump spindle slot, rotate back and forth a few times, if the pump is stuck this should free it.
