Anybody got any recommendations on what knee sleeves to get for the purposes of weightlifting and where?

Rehbands or TK sleeves are probably your best bet. They'll keep the knees warm and slightly compressed without adding any spring

Vulkan are not bad either imo and should be available in Elverys.

I got TK from pendlays site, dunno if it's a placebo or not but my knees tend to be less achey since I got them.

    I got rehbands from jackalsgym.com.
    Wouldn't squat without them now.

They keep my knees warm & pain free.
Generally keep them on for most leg exercises squats, back squats, leg press, lunges, split squats etc

140 is how much I got in my last comp.
    Failed 155 on depth.
I don't think they'd do any harm anyway man.

Get them smaller than you think you should or you'll end up swimming in them, like poor liam.

Better not to use them in general, unless you are actually competing maybe. Better to use lower weight and examine technique so muscles/ligaments provide enough support by themselves. Using supports will inhibit supporting muscle/ligament developing enough to lift same weights without sleeves.

They're not supportive per se, in that you don't get any extra pop from them.

They dont increase what you can lift, but they increase what you can lift without hurting your knees. They prevent pain which could also be prevented by having stronger ligaments/muscle that support the knee.

You try lifting 6/7 days a week without kneesleeves and tell me your knees don't get a bit rough.

My knees would be in bits from lifting 6-7 days a week. That supports rather than refutes my argument though. Ligaments take longer to regenerate than muscle, and ligament strength is what we're talking about.

Yes you would need supports if you are lifting 6-7 days a week because your ligaments just won't regenerate fast enough to deal with that. But I'd consider lifting 6-7 days a week to be excessive for general health and fitness, and it would be better to reduce the frequency imo. If you're actually competing and it works for you then it's a different context - but I wasn't including competitive lifters in the first place.

Although I fail to adhere to my advice (about to be given) I have argued before the case for wearing knee sleeves even when doing upper body work especially heavy db's.

IMO - quite easy to do damage when lifting heavy db's and then twisting/turning around to bring them back to the bench etc.

On the rehbands - these I think can be had in different thicknesses - 7mm? Not sure but think the standard vulkan's are 3mm.

If you go to Jackalsgym they sell the old blue REHBANDS which are much thicker than the new ones and in my opinion much better if you squat frequently

the blue rehbands are the ones I have, 7mm thick.
I got the larges ones first, they were fine for 2 weeks til they were broken in, then they were too big, so I bought a pair of them in medium and really like them.

    Yeah, still have them.
Was hoping I may one day have a pair of legs that can do the large ones justice!

I'll keep that in mind Garret.
Get on to me about them again the next time you're home
