This isn't a hotel but was unbelievably comfortable, clean and spacious. Great price too. http://www.heartofgold-hostel.de/ The location was superb, if I was to head back I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed in the Park Inn in Alexanderplatz, was excellent got a very good deal too. I've just had a look on www.booking.com and it's available for less than a ton a night. Also some very good other offers in different hotels (i put in 4 nights from Nov 11-15) including very nice 5* hotels.

I agree with TskTsk. I stayed 5 nights in the Circus Hotel last May and am returning next Monday to stay another 5 nights! Read the reviews on Tripadvisor, it really is as good as everybody says and Berlin is one amazing city.

I can second that recommendation for the Park Inn on Alexanderplatz. Excellent central location with a stunning view from the upper floors to boot.
Haven't checked the prices there in a while, though.

Was there last weekend and stayed here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187323-d282590-Reviews-ARCOTEL_Velvet-Berlin.html would highly recommend, Oranienburger Strasse is a great street with loads of restaurants and bars and there is a huge art centre a few doors down.

I'd just recommend a place which is close to an underground and then get the Berlin travel pass (for all forms of transport), very easy to get around the city once you know how and no fighting for carriages like in London as so many carriages running all the time - very efficient system.

I've stayed here twice in Berlin and its amazing. You can walk to most places from here, Check Point Charlie is litterally a 5 minute walk and then Alexanderplatx is 10-15 min walk or 2 minute U Bahn journey.

Think its around 150e or so a night and is absolutely gorgeous and rate normally includes brekkie!...
