Gigging in Dublin?

    Hi,

I have been living in Dublin for a short while and have recently formed a band. Back home, I had the network available to get an originals gig sorted, but I obviously don't have that here.

So, what is the best way to go about it? The old method of calling into bars with demo CDs, or is there a better way? For example, I frequent the retro revival thing at Le Cirk, how does one get on stage there?

    I appreciate any constructive advice.

    Thanks.

Go to popular places such as Whelans and look around for Promoted nights and flyers. They'll usually have an email or some sort of contact detail on them.

Ask the bands playing what type of night it is and if there are a whole load of bands playing over the course of the night or even a few days. They'll usually just mention someones name or slip you a phone number.

All you need to do is convince these promoters, and most aren't even huge in the industry but it's a foot in the door for the band and to get noticed by promotors with a bit more money, skill, etc. Obviously, this can also lead to getting noticed by guys who own their own studio, small time producers who, you never know, could be what your band need.

    It's worth a look.
