Wait so that's €5 for ever mile driven right? Jeez heading down to the shops for a pint of milk would be quite an expensive trip..

Good job he said "serious callers only". I've no intention of buying it, but was going to call to shoot the breeze for a while.

A guy living close to me bought a new Continental Flying Spur in 2007. It must have cost close to €300k. What's it worth now? €80k at a push? I'd day there isn't even 20k miles on it. That's what I call serious depreciation.

    hahahahaha !!!

Would'nt you be sick if you bought something and it was worth just under 75% less in the blink of an eye !!!

    hahaha!!!

Oh wait, I bought a house !

What an absolutely gorgeous looking car.
However, the dash, steering wheel, centre column etc is awfully awfully busy.

Is that a piss take ad?

It's on Donedeal and the asking price is nearly €90k. DD is great but it's the wrong place for a car like that.

And finally............THAT IS ONE OF THE --- WORST DESCRIPTIONS FOR SOMETHING --- WITH AN ASKING ---PRICE THAT --- HIGH

Phantom my arse! "Master businessman" Cullen isn't exactly flush I believe! The Bentley was leased or borrowed or something. He was stopped in traffic next to me a few months ago - in a Laguna!

I would doubt that high end cars like these are bought by individuals. I'd say that most were bought by companies that now need to sell!

Oh, you saw him in a Laguna? He must have fallen on hard times. It's probably not even his, I'd say it's a company car.

His current net worth is approximately €20 million.

And he is losing 2 mil a year on that hotel in Kerry..If i was losing 10% of my net worth per annum on one venture i would be slightly worried.

Am I missing something? I always thought new cars lost ~75% of their value when new after four years? 2007 Mondeos/Vectras etc. can be had for around 5-6K now when they cost over 20K new at the dealers?

The other way around actually. A company would tend to lease something like that, they would very rarely buy it outright, it would make more sense on the books. A Merc 600 or BMW 760 is about as high as a company will go. High earning individuals are traditionally the biggest purchasers of high end cars in Europe.

Yep, thats what I was thinking, its all relative really. Having said that if he bought himself a Ferrari 430 in 2007, it would be worth a fair bit more.

However, if he had got himself an F40 it would be worth at least the same if not more, or for half the money he could have gotten himself a 959 and it would have had no depreciation. Theres a lot to be said for classics :).

Either way we don't know the seller, could be he is still a succesful businessman and has just taken delivery of another Bentley, Aston or whatever. Those in the building and property game lost a lot but many other business branches were unaffected.

Was in a Lexus FS 430 (Not sure if that is the correct model, but close enough) Anyway, all the extras and the original receipt (Paid by Credit card) from 2001. Owned by a CEO in the UK. It was over €115K new. Bought by the new owner yesterday for €2500.

Was in Conlons in Rathangan a few weeks ago and they had a Rolls I think for sale. '07 if I remember...anyways I asked for a test drive for the craic...and the sales guy said that the car was just under €400k new and they have a price tag of €120k on it now. Didn't get the test drive btw!

Still not cheap at 82k though and lots of depreciation left to come.

If you went down the years to an 04' you'd pick one up with the same miles for close to 40k.

The old Continental was a nicer looking car with a nicer interior. It is probably a better investment also being a classic now.
