You'll need to find out the model. There's a big difference between the cheapest Stevens models and the higher end models with the accustock and accutrigger.

Generally speaking they are good, well built rifles that are very reasonably priced.

The accustock/accutrigger models will outshoot most factory rifels if you do your part.

The Stevens series are great intro hunting rifles. They're robust and will do minute of deer all day long.

I have 2 Savage rifles. Both .308. One is a hunter the other a target. Both have accu-trigger and stock. The rifles are excellent, cheap to buy, and seriously accurate.

My hunter will fire any round from 123gr to 210gr into one hole at 100 yards. I've never seen a rifle do the same in any caliber. Most rifles prefer a certain grain round or certain brand, but this thing fires anything.

To get a better rview of the Savage you rally would need a specific model as said above. If its general consenus of the make themselvs then you will not find a better rifle for the money in centrefire rifles.
