    Hi guys
Any suggestions/opinions on golf shoes ?
I'm looking to buy a pair of golf shoes to get me over the winter any recommendations?
Particularly interested in hearing from people who have had a pair for a while and are still happy with them or for that matter are not happy with them.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Yet to find a pair that will withstand an Irish winter. Bring extra socks so you can drive home with dry feet :D

I always buy Dryjoys and they have never let me down. They last for years; they don't sweat your feet and don't let in water.

Recently got a pair of dryjoys, a little uncomfortable near the ankle at first (but probably the same for all new shoes) great in the wet though, walked through a 3 inch deep puddle on sunday, socks were dry as gandhi's flip flop!

I have had at least two pairs of dryjoys the last pair I had the sole split from the upper in less than six months. Can't remember exactly what happens to other pair but they didn't impress. Best pair I ever had to date all things considers value, quality etc have been Nike herritage. €45 got about 4 months waterproof out of them before they fell apart . Does everyone else have this problem or am I just very hard on golf shoes?

I have a pair of Footjoy AQL shoes that I wear all year round.
I bought them about 2 years ago and play 2-3 times a week.
They are now just showing some wear but should see me through the next winter. They have never let in water.

I wear stubert helium tours, they are a big shoe with plenty of support and so far found them excellent in the wet weather, wore them out golfing last weekend in torrential rain and my feet were toasty coming off the coarse, they come in fantastic colours as well.

Couldn't agree more ..... there was a sale on in the Ecco shop in Pavillions Swords a while back and snagged a pair of GTX Classics for the princely sum of €100. I've spent the same and more on 2 different pairs of Adidias 360's .. neither of which saw out a year

I've had a pair of Footjoy AQL for about 3 years too - play about once every 3 weeks. They're still perfect - very comfy and have never let in water.

Bought a pair of Stuberts a few months ago, they looked great and were really comfortable.i'd say within 2 months i had to replace them, feet were getting wet, there was cracks appearing and the sole was coming away from the shoe.
A friend of mine had a pair of them and they didnt last him much longer.
Agree with everyone on the dryjoys, they will last years

Will have to wait til saturday to try them out!! :D

Seeing as I can't justify a pair of dryjoys I'll stick with my Hi-tec,which are basically a hard leather brogue type shoe, which, when amply smothered in Dubin should do the job. BTW,do golf shoe's not come with the tongue that covers the laces any more,or am I showing my age. Crap looking things, but they did protect the part that lets in first, the laces.

The dryjoys are excellent shoes I've had 2 pairs they lasted years and kept my feet perfectly dry. However if you're on a tighter budget the Adidas 360 4.0 are for sale in halpennys for 99 euros. I have a pair of the 2.0 which I paid 165 for a few years ago they are a great pair of shoes very comfortable, have never leaked in the 5 years I've owned them and I reckon I'l get a few more seasons out of them. Probably my best golf buy to be honest, if the quality hasn't slipped from the 2.0's 99 euros for the 4.0 seems like great value to me.

Hi guys, If you want a pair of golf shoes to aviod make it the €198 footjoy icons, i got a pair 20 months ago and they started letting in water, lots of it. I read that i should get a tin of dubbin to waterproof them and prolong there life, but when i was cleaning them before i sealed them i realized that it was tec 7 that i needed!.On both shoes along the ball of big toe the upper had seperated from the sole. Thinking of getting dryjoys next as I had a pair before and they never leaked but did tear at the heal as i never used a shoe horn.

The ECCO's have the tongue attached to the sides of the shoe so there is no where for the water to get in. (This is the same design that waterproof hiking boots/shoes have been using for years)

Any other pair of waterproof golf shoes that I have bought have never had this and its always where the water comes in. The rest of the shoe will be fine for a year or two but walking through wet, heavy rough and the water pours in around the laces.

I have eccos that are 6 years old and are still bone dry standing in puddles.

What are you doing walking in the rough. Walk down the middle of the fairway like I do (invest in a pair of long waterproof trousers and cut a hole in the pocket........very easy to drop a ball down your trouser leg........perfect lie in the fairway every time).

Oh and stay out of puddles unless you have Fireman Sam wellies.

I had dryjoys that I paid €150 for about a year and a half ago. Must say I have been disappointed, they definitely let the water in and whilst comfortable, I'm a little disappointed that they dont keep me dry.

That said, I havent cared for them in any way, but I do need to put newspaper in them after a wet round to dry them out.

No matter what brand you have you must take care of them. I use a couple of products to help with keeping out moisture. I spray W5 tyre care foam on my footjoy AQLs. It cleans and add silicon. I also use there cream which is like Vaseline (Aldi or Lidl).

More recently I use a liquid that garages use to put a shine on car tyres and when it rains the water beads on it. It smells like 'son-of-a-gun.'

It never ceases to amaze me that there are people that spend a fortune on both clubs and equipment and then fail to look after it.

Its my playing partners...they are useless.

ahh but with the ecco's you dont need to stay out of puddles...they are that good.

You also dont need to look after them and they are still fine. The goretex membrane is protected on the inside so it doesnt matter what you do or dont do on the outside, they are still waterproof.

Shoes that are "waterproof" because they are leather etc will need lots of care and attention.
