New reliable car needed

    Hey guys,

I am kinda clueless about cars, beyond what I have learned from mates who own them(biased) and topgear :D (old top gear ;) )

So... I have a punto currently, and well, doubt it's going to pass its nct in a few months, and def not worth any cash investment.

I drive approx 80km to work (round trip) a day, and will do a good bit of driving outside of that to.

My Budget? I actually don't know. I guess I'll be saving between now and Christmas, so perhaps 4K+?

I am looking for reliability (after my punto), something that will go for a long time yet, fuel efficiency is obviously ideal, and not a big engine for tax and insurance purposes. I do not know if that combination is possible?

But can anybody point me in a general direction?

    Any help is really appreciated
