I wouldn't think they would leave someone hunt with a semi center fire rifle here in Ireland, but if i was gonna buy one if I had the money I would join a club first just to make sure I got it, Is it accurate, what type scope did you use on it? may I ask why your selling such a beauty?

as with all rifles if used correctly dosent make them anymore dangerous,I take it thats what you mean . semi auto rifles are very popular in Europe for hunting and target also its a 223 so you would be limited to foxes rabbits here in ireland, the rifle is very accurate it has a Walther lothar match grade barrel.also I have had rifles for years and the guards would be well aware of my experience which would be a major factor in the license been granted,I dont think you could just join a club and try licence it but it is legally possible if you have a genuine reason.you can mount any scope you want on it same as any rifle. the only reason Im selling Im looking to fund a course I want to do to upskill and IM concentrating on the stalking side of things with my other rifles.

I hunt deer with a Remmy R25 semi in 243.So yes it can be done ,but you have to stay the course to get it thru and over the obstacles put in your way.;)

Two court cases at about 1500 euros each. One in which it was granted along with my handgun, but my local CS decided the rifle wasnt part of the deal,so I needed my legal team again to ask him nicely at the court doors why he decided a DC order didnt apply?Whereupon he suddenly realised that he forgot all about this liscense and would rectify it at once!!.
Despite him being still advised by our good ol pal of the Garda ballistics dept who has appered in many DC follies throught this land.
That a semi auto rifle is not fit for purpose for deer hunting and that it was a deadly black assault rifle[its hunting cammo and semi auto only] that can fire a million rounds a sec, only suited to military and police, etc etc.And that it is illegal under the wildlife act 1976[Nope! a semi auto smoothbore shotgun with more than three shots is]
Bit difficult to understand that thought process when Remington built and markets it specifically as a deer hunting rifle,in their litature and on youtube!

Havent done much with it apart from putting a sling, bipod and an Ebay 3/9x40 illuminated mildot scope on it.Dropped two deer with it this season .One running and one standing in around the 100 meter distances.
    Works good for me.:)

you were lucky to get to keep it so after all that and with all the money you spent in court 1500 for each case you could of bought another R25, so if I was ever gonna go for a AR semi auto rifle then it would be a bit of hassle to apply for it for hunting because I was gonna buy AR down the road for in 308 for hunting in Driven Boar hunts as im interested in doing it someday but im in two minds now about it

I toyed with the idea of a 308 semi or something similar for driven game and stalking in forested areas and decided it was too much hassle here, unfortunately. I just don't have 3 grand for legal fees.

I settled on a 30/30 winchester 1894 in the end and am still waiting on the license.

My needs for the rifle are all pretty much under the 200 yard mark so the 30/30 should be fine.

Now if I could get my hands on some hornady lever evolution ammo it would really up the capabilities of the rifle.

I wouldnt be and would do it again all over tomrrow and in 2013 if I have to!!! Somtimes you just have to take a stand in this country and life and say you have done no wrong, and why should you be [1] peanalised for a choice of firearm that suits you?I am also left handed and this type of firearm gives me a advantage in shooting as well.
The only way you will know if it is or isnt a bit of hassle is to apply for one.
The more people apply for a semi the more people will realise it is just another evoloution in technology of firearms, and that it is no more or less leathl than any other firearm.
As you are looking at a .308 SA for driven boar shooting. You couldnt pick a better gun for the job[Well maybe a new SIG SA in 308!:D]
The semi auto in Germany has become both in hunting and target shooting the hottest number for six years running of gun sales.
Put it like this ,if staid old gunsmiths like Merkel and Sauer are producing new rifles in semiauto for heavy boar and deer calibres..Do you think they would be doing such if the market wasnt saying this is a good seller??
Its also a fine target rifle, and hopefully next year a semi auto shoot might get going here in Ireland as well.
