Need to repair my laptop, it's saying the OS is missing when it's turned on. I tried connecting the HDD to another laptop with a SATA to USB connection but can't re-install my OS. Any help with the re-install appreciated !! :)

it sounds like your hard drive is dead being honest!

Only fix is to buy a new drive and reinstall the OS!

Okay so, if I get a new HDD and put it into the laptop will it automatically install the OS if I put the disk in or is there something I need to do ?

Well provided you have the disk for the OS, you should just be able to pop the disk in and install. Depending on the OS, you may have to download drivers for the laptop to get everything to work correctly. But it's all very simple.

Make sure you get the right drive. They're cheap enough, just make sure it fits:pac:

No need to get that specific tbh. Most drives will fit it. Its just that there are slightly larger drives, which are 12.5mm thick. Yours will be 9.5mm(or at least should be!), that's the only thing to make sure. After that you can choose whatever you want.

Actually, thinking about it, the laptop has dual HD slots. I don't know if they're inter-changeable though (HD 1 in HD 2's slot and vice versa) I might try putting the re-formatted HD 2 in HD 1's slot and see if the OS installation takes
