I am attempting to sort out some tv issues for an elderly neighbour. She has a uhf aerial pointing towards Achill for her digital RTE, which has one cable running from it into the attic. I need to split the RTEs for two rooms and attempted to do so with the splitter pictured but it made the picture break up. (both tvs ok when wired individually) Solution anyone?
Also why would my own digital Irish channels (dooncarton) be breaking up for a few days before returning to normal?
Thanks in advance guys for any help given!!

For a start, you'd be better off with a 2 way splitter rather than that 3 way, which seems to effectively be 2 x 2 way splitters, with the 2 outputs to the right of the picture having only half the signal of the other.

Which outputs did you use? Sounds like an amplifier of some kind may be required anyway or a better aerial or cabling etc.

try a different splitter. a 'y' splitter should work.

when you say both tv's are working when wired individually have you tested this with both drops after you cut the cable ?

You need a distribution amp, like one of these.

Could be maintenance work at the transmitter site, a lot of work ongoing at various sites according to Aertel p169 RTÉNL Technical Information.
