Could you kill another person?

Would you be able to kill another person if you felt you had to: for example, if you felt your or the lives of your loved ones were threatened?
If you were in such a situation where you felt you had to kill another person, would you be able to bring yourself to do it?

Could you imagine any other situation where you might be so compelled: for example, if you were incredibly angry about something?

Personally, I think I might be able to do it if I felt I'd be killed if I didn't kill first, or if my loved ones were at risk, but I still have a niggling feeling that the enormity of taking someone's life would at least make me hesitate.

Theoretically/hypothetically, maybe if it was a life-threatening situation and whatnot (however, no-one knows 100% what'll happen in the future, what situations could occur that changes that - there aren't really absolutes in this unless we can predict the future..).
Physically, however, I probably wouldn't be capable :pac:

Not intentionally. I could do whatever is needed to protect myself if needs be, but I couldn't purposefully set out to kill someone.

If my child's life was in danger, yes. Without hesitation.

Fuck Yeah, if T.V and video games have taught me anything it's that killing people is class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 211 ✭✭phoenix833

I think I'd attempt to seriously injure somebody if they were threatening my family etc.

I don't think anybody would consciously think "I'm going to kill this mo-fo now". I think we set up to defend but could end up killing someone quite easily. Even with a punch or a kick or what you may think was a stab would just to slow them down.

    Very true.

Video games have taught me that if I have sex with a whore down an alley I can beat her up afterwards with a giant pink dildo and then take her money.

And you probably only get a 1-star rating for that as well.

Is that the new hidden "Wayne Rooney Level" on FIFA 12?

You can't murder a whore anyway because they're already dead inside.

    The first doesn't really count.

As far as I know your first killing comes consequence-free, to see if you like it.

    Like those old book-of-the-month clubs.

So could you kill someone after that?

Looks like you would be very busy killing people for a long time. Let me cut down the amount of killing you have to do. Just kill the idiots that make these programs and Simon Cowell, Kenny, Tubridy ;)

You just need to spice it up, try role playing, pretend your a famous serial killer or maybe do it somewhere public where you have a little risk of being caught.

Well in that case I'd really quite like to kill you. Though I'm not sure how.

Of course I love an ol' stabbing, but I wore out my stabbing arm in the local orphanage earlier.

You'll have to make do with death by jousting. Say Athlone town centre tomorrow at noon?

I think the people who said 'no' are kidding themselves. I think we all have the capacity to kill if pushed far enough.

Yes. I've had to do mercy killings on a few animals before. Feel guilty after but I can block it out when needs be.

I think most people, whatever their concious answer could kill. We're programmed for it.

When I was a really young, we used to have this whistle kettle (I still have it actually and use it often) but I always remember this one day, as it was boiling, my ma looking off in the distance and saying to me to that I was to always be a good boy and never play with guns but one night I shot a man out out in Marino just to watch him die. Now when I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry.
