I see that Merlin Car Auctions are accepting tenders for a 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano!

How much will it sell for do you think?

I just can't fathom why people buy these sort of cars and only put a few thousand KM on them. If I had one of these I'd never leave the thing.

Hmm, it's an 08 reg, so things were good when he bought it, started to look bad shortly afterwards and now the bank owns his jocks so he needs rid of it...:D

But seriously I'd be afraid to take it out on Irish roads and car parks.

He found out the price of a set of Ling Longs for it and decided not to drive it.

    It's a repossession.

I've heard that €180-200k is the ball park value put on it.

I doubt he ordered it in 2008, the waiting list on the 599 was nearly 2 years so I'd say it was ordered in mid/late 2006 assuming the current owner ordered it from Ferrari.

Probably worth whatever the trade price in the UK on the day. Residual VRT would probably be worthless in Ireland today.
Looks like they list out at around 118stg retail there, so trade probably around 110, or in euro 130k.

Actually the current VRT laws make importing high end cars into Ireland illogical (~ €150k VRT on a 2008/09 Scuderia) so any that are currently in the country are actually worth a lot more than the UK trade price.

This will be bought by a dealer and will have €30k added to it within a week.

Indeed. He ordered it expecting to pay €1,566 motor tax but when he finally got the car it went up to €2,100

    Car had to go...

Maybe he should have taken our the back seats and used it as a commecial vehicle?
Few pound saved there on the tax.

I said this to someone in the know before and he said their engines are so highly tuned they would need a rebuild at 50k miles or so! I don't know wether he is talking b/s or not but even cars from the 70's/80's rarely have 20k miles on them. Such a shame.

Well not an engine rebuild as such but routine maintenance is a serious undertaking. Most Ferrari's Lamborghini's etc normally cover 5000 miles a year.
The running costs used to be stratospheric on supercars (not specifically service more power-train issues) but I believe Ferrari have made a commitment to longer service intervals and are actually offering a 4 year comprehensive warranty.
As for this one as had been mentioned here earlier probably ordered 05'-06' delivered in 08 hidden from nama et al until now and Merlin have been asked to sell it.

I disagree. I dont think their are that many high rollers left, not ones who want a used Ferrari anyway. Why did many Irish helicopters end up being shipped to the UK and the States as there simply wasnt a market here.
I guess the receivers/auction house would like to think there is more to be made here than the UK, I guess thats why its going to tender. Any chance of finding out what it sells for in any case?
Where I am theres a load of high end cars that have been on sale forever. Both of these ones been on sale for a year so if its the same dealers who are buying them then Im not sure with whos money they are going to use.http://www.tynanmotors.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201037199529981

I have a feeling I have seen this car before, I drive past it's ex-owners house most days of the week, a fine machine! There are many Mercs etc in the driveway too, expect them to be up on the Merlin website by the end of the week! :D

There are still loads of nice cars around, and owners can afford to run them.

Ferrari/Lamborghini's aren't practical to be driving in and out of work, or to the shops. I drove a Murcielago through rush hour traffic earlier in the year and could barely walk after because my left leg was cramped to bits. Visibility in them is very poor too, for getting around the city. Most of them are tucked away in garages and only brought out when the owner feels the need. With tiger kidnappings and the likes as popular as they are, most people that still have a few quid are trying to keep it under wraps!
