Opting out of postal election literature

Is there any way I can opt out of receiving election literature through the post (I can refuse the literature from personal callers).

I just think all of the rubbish sent is a waste of money and resources. And the other electors in the house feel the same.

And its not just the Presidential Election but other elections as well.

All I want to do is be able to e-mail somewhere with my address and ask for it to be removed from mailing lists.

    Any suggestions please?

Put a notice on your letterbox

Anyone can send you a letter if they have your name and address and I'd say the postal worker has no choice but to deliver it in that instance.

    You could try this though

I have that but it didn't stop the postman putting Michael D flyer in my door today.

Just recycle it instead of reading it.

if it's addressed to you, the postman has to deliver it. If, however, you happen to meet him when he is delivering, you can opt to refuse it.

Just put it in the green bin and stop getting worked up for something so trivial. As has been stated so clearly addressed mail must be delivered unless you personally refuse to accept it from the post person

    Hi
I am thinking of writing " Not wanted" across them and reposting them, then they will be returned to the sender. Any thoughts on this action?

I'll have you know Sean Gallagher is saving tax payers money and not spending on leaflets, posters etc........or so he said, but then again.......

I dont think he ever said he wouldnt send out leaflets.

He did say he was not putting up posters.

He did suggest on the Vincent Browne debate that all 7 candidates should put all their info on the same leaflet or at least have them all in the same envelope, to save on postage, but not all the other candidates were in aggreement. Seems to make sense to me to try to save money!!

Here is a statement from Gallagher:

"It is a matter of deep regret and disappointment to me that the other candidates would not agree to my proposal to share a leaflet or an envelope and I had to deliver my leaflet through An Post as a single delivery. The leaflet which goes to every voter is an essential part of the democratic process as it informs voters of who is on the ballot. As an Independent candidate who does not have the national organisation that the political parties have I need to ensure that my message gets out to the voters. I hope that by raising this issue it will ensure a more streamlined method for future elections."
