    Hi all,
I'm have a holiday booked(alone) to Tunis at the end of the month. Its says on the websites that non-essintial travel there should be avoided, but alot of the sites have not been updated in months, so has anyone been there recently? Is it dangerous?
    Thanks:)

    Current enough?

I reckon you should contact your travel agent (if you used one). Failing that, consult your travel insurer.

I was there a couple of years ago with another female friend and did not like it. I was aware that it was a muslim country and so out of respect covered myself fully except my face and hair when out and about (think long linen trousers and long sleeved kaftan type tops), however I was constantly harrassed by the local men. I know this sounds closed minded and I don't mean it to be - this was our actual experience. I would not recommend visiting on your own as a single woman.

Thanks for that, looks like its safe to go:) yay!

In my experenice of muslim countries, you are mostly ok if you cover up. Being a lone female may attract a little more attention but most are harmless and can be ignored easily.

i would echo the comments on females travelling there. my other half was there with her female friend last year and said that they got a bit of annoyance from local males, nothing major. we considered going this year ourselves and she said that i wouldn't be able to leave her on her own like we sometimes do on spanish holidays.

Would it be worse than other muslim countries?
