first you need a UK MoT then its just paperwork. Might be a small admin fee but no VRT

Was only on to Shannon about this today.

I'm selling a van to a guy in the north. I have to send a letter confirming the transfer to Shannon with his name and address on it. They will send him confirmation that it's complete.

He also needs the Irish VRC.

Not sure what else is required on the UK end.

Did it just recently for a customer and it's a total pain in the hole.

Car has to have MPH on the speedo, so we had to get the clocks swapped out of the 11 reg Avensis.

Have to get a copy of the Certificate of Conformity from the manufacturer.

Have to get various forms posted out from the VCA in the UK, and fill out one of the most detailed forms I've ever seen, with all the details from the CofC.

Cheque had to be raised for the £45 (I think, somewhere around there anyway) admin fee, along with £110 for a years Road Tax.

Driver was sent on his way with all the VCA forms, VLC, Certificate of Conformity, cheque and a letter from the Toyota dealer stating that the clocks now read speed in Imperial units (CofC states metric units). He had to head in to one of the tax offices in NI to complete the re-registration process.

Haven't heard back from him, and this was a couple of weeks ago, so going on the "no news is good news" premise, I presume it's all sorted now.

For an old car with mph clocks though it's not anywhere near as bad, no CofC required or anything like that.

Would have thought you'd still need that, if not to give to the tax office in NI, but to get the information to fill the stupid form in.

At least the Toyota one was in English, did one last year for a Passat (that didn't end up being re-regged) and that was in German, unt nein spracken ze deutsche.

Why didn't you source the car from the UK in the first place?

It was out with an ROI based driver for 9 months, but then he retired and rather than terminate it early, pay a fortune and then have to lease a new car in NI for the new driver, who lives up there, they asked if we'd re-reg it.

Being the king souls we are, we agreed :pac:
