How do I know if it's a tooth problem or a Jaw Problem?

Have a pain in the right hand side of my face running from my cheek down, not unbearable yet but it's gradually getting worse, don't know if I should go to the doctor or the dentist, tried gargling some cold water no problem. Any way I could rule out one or the other or should I just head to the dentist, I know he'll look at me funny when I got I can't define a tooth that's causing it, tried tapping them all as well, all good.

Much more likely to be dental. Go to a dentist and check it out. If its not dental the dentist can refer you onto whoever is most suitable.

Went to the dentist couldn't find anything, got some anti-biotics, Still having the problem, only thing that seems to relieve the pain is water, just sloshing it around in my mouth relieves the pain. Had some food with salt earlier and had to keep rinsing with water after every bite or the pain came on strong. Lasts for about 3minutes after sloshing then need more water:confused:

Is the pain when your eating only?
Do you have sore cheeks on the inside of your mouth?
Is it sore to eat spicey or salt foods only of all foods?
Does it wake you at night?
Is it all the time or some of the time?
On a scale of 1-10 1 being the mildest pain ever and 10 being unbearable pain how bad is it?

Pain is all the time, pain killers aren't helping only water.

Don't have sore cheeks but do have a pain in my right cheek same side as the pain.

Salty food drove it nuts today but only about a 7 and it's holding steady at that but getting worse, was about a 3 yesterday.

It's getting worse and worse. Think i'll be crying in the next few hours.

Actually it's waves of pain, had to nip out for a few minutes and it disappeared completely, just waiting for it to come back.

Are there any point on you face, lips, cheeks or inside your mouth (gums, tongue, etc) that triggers the pain?
What is the character of the pain....burning, sharp, dull, electric, ??
Do any of these make it worse: Brushing teeth, Lightly touching the face, Shaving?
Has it ever woken you up at night?
    What age are you?
    Male or female?

Give us these answers I have a strong suspicion......

Nothing in particular seem to trigger it, Just watchin TV here with a bottle of Volvic, not doing anything else and off it goes.
I can brush teeth, drink hot or cold. Touch my face, gums, teeth all with no problem. Kept me awake for a while last night, then had a few pain killers and brushed my teeth again and fell asleep shortly afterwards, had to sleep on my back could't sleep on my side like I usually would. Dentist done some xrays, didn't see anything, didn't want to touch anything as nothing was obivious.
