Jeep Tyres

Before I start I am going to apologise as I know this has been done to death in other threads. However, I need new shoes for my D-max. I know that the BF Goodrich tyres come very highly rated and I am thinking strongly about getting them, but which ones?

I do 10-12000 miles a year. I am farming part time so do go off road occasionally onto either farm tracks/roadways and onto dry well drained land, but rarely on the land during the winter. Would H/T's be my best bet or would I be better going for road specific tyres?

I am thinking mainly in terms of wear as off road grip shouldn't be a huge issue for me.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have a look at these two sites that will give you an idea of what's available and then you can go to your local supplier for a price.

It does sound like you want a road biased tyre rather than an All Terrain type, big knobbly tyres are more of a fashion thing (I am guilty as any :o) unless you're in the bog every day. If you ever see Land Rover's passenger demonstrator fleet off road, they are all on standard road going tyres and go every where no problem.

Wear wise, you get what you pay for, BFGs have a fairly hard compound I think hence the long life. Cooper and General tyres are good too.

Anybody here ever have Lassa tyres on a jeep? A guy in our local tyre centre has them in stock at €120 fitted and balanced, a bit better for four he says, but I only want two for now. He says he has them on his jeep for 50k himself and swears by them, but he is selling them!

I had Pirelli STs on my old pajero and was very happy with them. I reckoned the consequences of getting stuck in a field were less that the consequences of not stopping quickly enough on a road. I bought a second-hand LandCruiser and it came with new Lassa Competus tyres. I expected to go back to the Pirellis but recently happily put two new Lassa tyres back onto the LandCruiser..................... so no worries about them here.
