Apologies for a new thread on this, mods feel free to move/merge but...

Which team has the best defensive record in the WC? Ireland would be up there, if my memory serves me correctly we've let in 4 - 2 each for US and Russia.

And is it just me that's noticing it (i.e. that I don't see it normally) but aren't there a lot of intercept passes from the pool stages? Gifted the US a try against us and nearly gifted us one against Oz. I don't normally see intercepts that often.

South Africa have the best defensive record with only 24 conceded

Ireland, England and Wales are next best with 34 conceded

England have only conceded 1 try so far

USA only got 1 try against us, Russia got 2.

My bad - thought the US had 2. That was an early start :P

I was looking at the points difference. We've the smallest one of all the table-toppers at 101, next is England 103, SA 150ish, NZ 191.

NZ rarely let in tries, but they've let in lots in the pool stages. They got lucky that it was the apparent French B side that showed up, but even they managed a few.

If we keep our solid defence (only letting in 3 tries) and keep our game plan, could we potentially beat the AB's? Okay granted they've got some of the best backs in the world, real game changers. Sonny Bill as a sub to come off the bench and score 2, but NZ haven't really come up against a defensive team.

Yes I think we could beat the All Blacks they are far from unbeatable, granted they are the best team in the RWC by a mile but every team has an off day, Carter and McCaw are huge losses for them.

It would be pretty amazing if we beat the All Blacks for the first time in our history in the final of the World Cup. Would shut them up a bit as well!

Wales will not be easy to beat they are in flying form atm, they beat Fiji 66-0 and they are far from pushovers and they should of beaten SA.

That Fiji team that played Wales yesterday were unbelievably poor (poorest I've seen so far in the comp to be honest). I wouldnt take anything other than fitness levels out of it. Will be a close game though.
