Hi I moved into a new house about four years ago.I had a problem with the septic tank as it was filling up too quickly and started overflowing into the garden. I contacted the builder and he came and emptied it and done some groundwork which seemed to resolve the problem. Now in the last few weeks it has become worse than ever and I cannot contact the builder.Anyone know what the legal position is with that? thanks

How long since the tank was emptied?

Forgive the question, but are you aware that most septic tanks do need to be pumped out on a regular basis (every 2 to 4 years based on use)?

If it has been a few years since the tank was pumped, this is probably normal.

It was emptied a few months ago and seemed to fill up almost straight away there seems to be a problem with the water draining away

The drain line from it is probably blocked.

I had the issue you describe when a roommate flushed baby wipes down the toilet.

Had to have the line rodded.
