Hi, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. The electric sunroof and boot release aren't working. There's power going to the motors but they don't open. Any ideas as to how to fix it myself?

    hi

On my previous 1997 E200 merc the vac pump for the doors and boot release is under the rear seat on the drivers side. There is a tab at each side on the rear side that you can lift up to release it.

Its contained in a foam type block with all the vacuum tubes installed as regards tube is which I cant help but I'am sure google will help.

sorry cant help on sunroof but well worth a visit here a great bunch of guys to help you out. I assume you have checked the sunroof fuse

    regards

    hi Stephen,

if its the pump that's gone forget about going to a dealer as the price will frighten you ( I did and thank god I was sitting down ). the best place is a car breakers yard there are loads of them around and i got my pump for about 85e.

    hope this helps

Ok, got to the pump under the driver side back seat. It makes a whirring noise when I press the release but nothing happens. It looks like a sealed unit so I don't want to mess with it. Does this mean its broken and will need replacing or is it easily fixable?
