    Hey Lads,

Thought I'd ask this on to you. It seems that a few people have the industry tied up in terms of Instrumentalists and Engineers. Anyone know how to 'break' in?

well in the drumming world I know of 4 names that get most of the calls. I also know of a few guitarists that are in the same boat.

its all who you know. and i dont mean that in a bad way.

if i need a musician on a session i have a pool of a few i'd contact for 2 reasons - 1. they are great musicians and 2. i know them as people and i know i can work with them without hassles... most producers/engineers are the same.

like every other part of the industry its part talent, part luck.

from the dealings we've had before robin, i already know you have the talent. its now about getting your name out and about. its not unknown for session guys to book a day at a studio as a test with and engineer/producer. there are 2 reasons for this, you get to hang out with said guy and you also get a quality work demo to give out to others.

    Hey D,

Thanks for the constructive reply, I had a feeling it is about who you know. I just need to find the 'forum' in which to meet the people!

A day in the studio might be a good more to make a start.

    Many thanks Damaged!
