Someone will probably make a better match thread for the England Scotland game so lets keep the match discussion for the other games in here. Poor aul Russia will have a hard time of it against Australia but hopefully the likes of Gresev and Artemyev will have strong showings.

France v Tonga will be an interesting encounter. France will want to get a good win and build some consistency going in to the next round.

I see a few Irish flags in the crowd. :pac:

tbh I think I should have gone to bed and skipped this game so I'd be properly awake for the England Scotland game and even maybe the France Tonga game because this game is going to be an absolute route that's not going to help either team or help give us a look at what the Aussies really are like

Just hoping the Russians can sneak a try or two in maybe...

Australia -60-70 points sounds about right

    Daycent try

Fairly easy for Australia so far, nice try there. Do not see why Cooper passed it to McCalman though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Easy try, Australia could wrack up loads of points if Russia keep defending like they are.

What an atrocious tackle from the fly-half on Pocock:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭johnmcdnl

Australia up from -69 on PP pregame to -86 after 15 minutes :o

says enough about how the game has being going anyways...

    and there's the bonus point

and the handicap is gone to -96

    Russia +96????

I expected Russia to take a kicking but this is nuts. 26-0 after 19 minutes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Another try, far too easy for Australia.

Aussies really look like there going to break 100 points here...

Russians just have nothing at all basically and the only thing that's going to stop Australia scoring is themselves...

Hope Russia get a try or two

    33-0 after 24 mins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

If they wanted to hit 100 they could - I don't think they will though; I don't think they care that much. They're content to keep taking tries but they're not going to go out of their way.

Everything is going wrong for russia hope the scoring doesn't keep up like this it will do nothing for either side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

Jaysus Russia look a bit familiar when they go forward don't they? ;)

Go Russia, they deserve it for the last few minutes of play

Great try Russia but was AAC not taken out there?

Nice little kick by Cooper. Australia back on form now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

Maybe they will hit 100 - if they don't tire!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Australia score again, now 54-5. Do not think Australia will get 100 points but will get close enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

A drop kick, seems a bit strange.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

That is dreadful for Mitchell, his WC most likely over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Another try for Russia, bad pass by Cooper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Australia have been very poor the last few minutes, think they must be deflated after seeing what happened to Mitchell. Not the best way to end a match for them, not going to give them great confidence going into the knockout stages.

Another try by Russia, this is dreadful by Australia.

Holy shít, another try for Russia. Well deserved though.

Oz have lost their shape. It looks as though the weather has changed too; I don't think it's helped Australia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Australia score another, Barnes has played very well and deserved the try.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

Russia did very well in the second half - good for them. They put 22 points on Australia. 22. That's more than Ireland.:D:D:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Australia made that a lot harder than it should have been. With all the injuries building up for Australia the knockout stages are going to be very tough for them. At the moment I can not see them beating SA.

Feel terrible for Drew Mitchell. Thats his world cup over.

    What happened??

Last 5 minutes was a blank screen thanks to Setanta. Did Russia get a losing bonus point for scoring 4 tries?

Russia only got 3 tries so no losing bonus point. They should have had 4 tries. should of went for a try instead of the drop kick. Good performance by Russia, certainly did not disgrace themselves.

It was dreadful to watch after all he went through to get to the WC. He was really making a claim for a starting spot in the knockout rounds as well. I presume Australia will call up a replacement for him, the commentators mentioned Lachie Turner being called up. I would agree with that, he was unlucky to miss the squad in the first place.

Cheers for that, impressive nonetheless to run up 22 points on one of the worlds top sides. Thought they may have gotten a 4th in the last 5 minutes.

    Why is Parra at 10?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

Interesting stuff. France look a tad disjointed but it's early days. Passes aren't going to hand but you still get the feeling that they're going to push on.

Tonga try! and a very nice one at that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

France will still win the game but Tonga are playing out of their skins. It's amazing, inspirational stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭chupacabra

France are playing terribly. Dont seem to want to win the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,000 ✭✭✭randomname2005

There have been a few great performances by the lower seeded teams. Great to see and hopefully will encourage more in the future. Might ease a few nz nerves if France get knocked out!!!!!

    Never a yellow card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭chupacabra

if tonga could somehow manage 4 tries and prevent a French bonus then France would go out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 411 ✭✭jk86

    Never a yellow card.

Didn't the ref and assistant agree it was just a penalty?

    or am I hearing things?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,000 ✭✭✭randomname2005

    Never a yellow card.

There is often a fine line between dangerous and not, but he was barely below level . Hopefully not defining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Dangerous Man

    Never a yellow card.

It kind of was though. It was only a few degrees away from a spear - it was dangerous. You can't lift players like that and expect to stay on the pitch.

    Never a yellow card.

Always run the risk when you bring a mans legs above his head.

I've never seen the French look so disorganised in attack and defence. The Tongans will win this.
