    Poll coming in a minute.

Do you Love X-Factor or hate it? and why? I'm undecided. I think it's a great way to find talent and they are doing what every other musical scout for a record company does in a day. But what I dont like about it is the using of human beings for entertainment, to make fun of them and they dont offer that much constructive criticism, all they do is make fun of the contestents. yet I still watch it. :o

    So What's your verdict?

Do you Love or Hate X-Factor U.S.A/U.K? 27 votes

These shows are primarily for making fun of people, giving them a stage for us to laugh at the dim-witted, but on the flipside of this, is the fact that it gives people who have amazing talent to be recognized for this where they may not have been before.

Good answer. I think they should filter out all the bad acts and just present the good ones instead of making fun of those who they know really cant perform or sing at all. The show would be taken more seriously in my opinion.

I see a lot of threads in here that should be in their natural habitat i.e forums but they are not. But if the mod feels the desperate need to move then so be it. It's just that the majority of the country post in this part of the forum and I'm looking for a lot of answers to my question.

    Hate it.

Only for immature or stupid people. Yes I actually think that.

That is pretty much what the later episodes of these talent shows are - when they've weeded out the duds and are just left with the good acts. At least it's the case with everything but the X Factor, who think it's a good idea to keep in the Jedwards, the Wagners and the Goldies, because they know that people love car crash TV.

I can't stomach the whole sob story end of it. Its just so cheesy. And Americans are full of shít anyway so it just makes it all the more cheesy.

Why do you think this though? what is immature or stupid about the concept of the X-Factor other than what I mentioned ''them using people for the entertainment of the mass so they can laugh at them?''

Yeah but louis seems to think and I qoute ''it's not all about the singing'' it's about the entertainment they can provide. That just kills the whole concept of it and yet Jedward works for him. I dislike their music but they've got a career, dont ask me how but they have along with Chrystal swing.

    As for why?
Lets take immature people. Talk to some 15yo who watches the x-factor he/she thinks its "deadly!" - they dont have the cop on to realise how much fake, BS, staged, load of crap the x-factor is.
As for stupid people. (not immature but stupid) they cant also realise the above too.

However, the x-factor is a great concept. Business side. It rakes in millions of viewers and millions in revenue. While at the same time promoting singers (weather they win or not) so people will buy an album after the season is over. Its such a brilliant concept and I cant knock it in that reason. But the show is a joke.

perhaps 15 year olds are unaware of the staging but I know adults who love it and are aware of it being partly staged and acted out. But tune in on the more serious notes.

There is def a filter system in which each contestent must first pass a judge that is not a celeb judge before going on to face the likes of Louis or Simon. This makes me all the more angry to know that rubbish acts are put in front of the x-factor judges for the pure mockery and laughter of the nation. I hate it for that.

Rest assured, the same people sneering at the X-Factor viewer are not watching intellectually and educationally stimulating programmes themselves on a Saturday night.

Light entertainment has been around as long as television. People would watch shows like Candid Camera, The Generation Game, Oppurtunity Knocks and That's Life to laugh at and with the general public.

Take such comments with a pinch of salt and enjoy whatever shows entertain you.

    How are they staged exactly?

Like....the acts that are terrible are staged by the X-Factor crew. But they genuinely do think they can sing or whatever but they placed there for a reason and most of them deep down inside know they cant sing, but wanna just hop up there either under a dare or for the giggles and to get in front of the judges and wow the nation with their untalented performances :D

is the fact that it gives people who have amazing talent to be recognized for this where they may not have been before.

if anyone has amazing musical talent the likes of simon cowell won't be the one to find it thats for sure, do you really think we will see someone of the likes of elvis, michael jackson, the beatles, led zeppelin or hendrix emerging from x-factor..........i won't hold my breath

x-factor is simply a tool to make cowell very rich, he is a smart dude no doubt but x-factor is a hyped up karaoke show, nothing more nothing less.

I think X-Factor is geared towards a specific genre though. the 60's-80's had many artists like Madonna emerge and people wrote them songs.

There is the creative bands like the beatles and then there is the talented singer who sings the creative persons songs and does it well. It's entertainment.
