Log Periodic or Contract (grouped) for attic install?

Recently purchased a usb dvb-t dongle with small omni directional aerial to try out saorview, and it works grand on my pc (no driver for et9000 sat box yet!) with aerial just sitting on the floor. Never had aerial on house, so have been looking at options. Don't want aerial on chimney, will put on side of house if necessary, but want to initially try out in attic. House is in dublin close to santry stadium, with front facing south.
Read through long aerial thread and recommended info sites and believe my aerial options are a log periodic wideband, or a contract (wideband or c/d group). Looking to feed 4 receivers max.

Just checking to see if I am on the right track here?

In pre DTT days in Dublin I mounted a cheap Powercity indoor aerial to the attic ridge board and received perfect analogue TV. If you have one give it a go.

Otherwise I'd go for a contract group C/D if analogue reception isn't required.

If the small aerial works fine on the floor it should work well in the attic.

You'll need a 4 way splitter / distribution amp anyway. Run all your coax, set up the splitter / amp in the attic and give the small aerial a shot. If it doesn't work out, you can upgrade the aerial to a contract C/D or wideband if you need analogue.

Thing is will all DTT multiplexes in the Dublin area always be in Group C/D ?

Signal strength isint really an issue in most parts of Dublin so Id be inclined to go for the log-periodic ?

    For the foreseeable future yes.

Preliminary planning is underway in Europe for a Digital Dividend 2 which could transfer some or all of UHF Ch 49-60 to mobile services but that could be 10 years or more away. Comreg will be consulting on it next year.
