I just bought a VST 15g, and the website lists the diameter as 58.2-58.4mm.
(It also seems to recommend a flat base)

My current tamper is a 58.0, so I thought it might be worthwhile to get a 58.3 for a nice and snug fit.

Hoping to find a few different retailers so that I can compare/contrast with prices and so on (not sure if I can afford a Reg Barber, but I'm about to check them out so I'll see)

Actually, does anyone have an RB tamper? I'm trying to find out if the handle of my current tamper (Motta 58mm) will screw into an RB base. I emailed RB but they weren't really able to tell me. It'd be great if it did fit, because then I could just order a base from RB for much cheaper and keep my lovely red wooden handle..!

a 58.0 will probably be a snug fit in 58.3. You would have a very hard time getting a 58.3 to fit in a 58.3 hole. In my job welders put a 12.7mm tube in a 12.8mm hole and it can be difficult to get in sometimes as these could be on close in size due to tolerances. You nearly always need clearance on stuff like this or you would never get it out again, even if it did go in.

    Sorry, I had it wrong.
The diameter is listed as 60.0 and they recommend a 58.2-58.4 tamper
