A good predicament to find myself in -- Advice?

So I've been offered work in a temporary position today which runs until the end of the year (possibility of permanent position beyond that), starting in a week.

The problem is I've been called in for interview for another -- potentially better -- job next Monday. And I have been asked to come in a for a trial day at a newspaper on Wednesday too (I'm a writer/journalist).

So what should I do? Ultimately I would love to get a job with the paper, but in reality even if the trial goes well I'm only likely to get a couple of shifts a week.

Should I plough ahead with the job I've been offered and forget about the rest?

    When it rains it pours!

Has anyone been in a similar position? Will appreciate any advice, thanks.

Are you saying you have been offered the Monday interview and the Wednesday job trial in the same week as you have been asked to start work in the temporary job?

Have you accepted the temporary job yet? Could you suggest that you start the following week, or say you really would like to take on the temp job but you have commitments for two days that week? That way you could try all three options.
