If you leave it that late to check in it is highly unlikely any of those seats will be available for selection.

I'm not sure about the machines, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to pick your seat - but everyone who checked in on line would have had their pick before you

Yes you can pick a seat from what's available but most of those seats seem to get snapped up by those that check in online. If you really want such a seat check in online

I think you still have to pay extra for front/exit rows if you choose them at check in but I'm open to correction.

You might be right. You can also book seats in advance though that costs too as far as I recall

Yeh you don't have to pay for regular seats if you choose them at check in but for some reason I thought that you would still have to pay for the legroom ones at check in, but not really sure where I got that info from :o Heading to Amsterdam myself in a couple of weeks so I'd be interested to know the answer to this!!

Thanks guys, I know you can book the front seats for 10euro, exit seats I think 14 euro each way! But lets say this are not booked. Does anyone know can you select this on the self check in machines with no charge?

You can book in online alright and pick this seats but it costs the above prices!

You will not be able to pick exit row seats or the front row if you don't pay for them beforehand and just use the self service till.

All it will display is a selection of the other ordinary seats that are not gone.
This is the case even if the premium seats are still empty.

Recently I missed a Bmi flight to London and had to quickly rebook on EI.
I checked in at the kiosks and went directly to the gold circle lounge.
The kind lady at the desk there put me in 1a for free and tore up my kiosk printed boarding pass handing me a new one :)
From her map, there were many free premium seats that were greyed out and unchoosable on the kiosk screen.

Sometimes if you smile and ask nicely, this will also be done for you at the bag drop desk.
It makes a wee bit of a mockery of paying for the seats but I guess you pay to make sure you get that seat whereas if no one has paid for it,then it's no harm the staff handing them out on a first come nicely asked basis.

    Hope that helps :)

as others have said, you won't be able to pick out the exit or premium (front 2 rows) seats. the thing to do though is to pick a seat as close to these as possible and then the second the doors close just pop into them, my experience is that they will not move you from these.
