if the "C" rating for the battery is 25 or under i would say yes no bothers.

hiya xENDZEITx i have the same m4 which i run on 7.4V 1400mAh 20c+ lipo's from component shop, the worst thing i noticed is the wiring gets a bit on the warm side, (its not that great on mine) so i swapped it out with some king arms silicone wire (much much better quality), you need to be pretty handy with a soldering iron to do this, and you need to open the gearbox, and while i was in there i put in 7mm bearings, m90spring, brass gas tube (mine was drilled to downgrade), and i also reshimmed and degreased (once again the application of grease was pretty bad in mine), after i threw it all back together it was on the whole firing much better and much straighter (i also put in a new hop rubber and bucking), with the added advantage of being able to get rid of the nasty assed stock and throw on a nice MOE stock (im a big fan of stock tube sized lipo's). i would also say if you are not COMPLETELY happy with opening the box, DON'T! it is easy to make an ar*e of it if your not careful, if your not happy doing it, bring it to a retailer and pay there tech to do it for you.

hope this is of some use to you...

7.4s are pretty much fine in most stock guns, even with 25ish and over C, you wont find anything really stupid at 7.4v, most stuff can handle it, as its end output varies upto 9.6v esque performance (at the high Cs (Arrrrr!))

warm wiring is resistance because the battery is sending more than the wire likes, which with dboys stuff, is anywhere close to normal.

New decent quality wiring is actually a fairly cheap, and big trigger response/ rate of fire improvement.

So to get a li-po running i would just have to change the wiring to a more suitable one and maybe change the gears?
Sorry for newbie type questions better safe then sorry as they say.

Those gears are grand - I've used those in 25-30rps set ups with no issues!

like lefty said the gears are grand its really more important to just get them running nice, i.e. with better bushings/barings (the things the gears spin in) and better shimming.. i mean you only really need to improve the wireing really, however personaly speaking i would spend a little more and do a bit of an upgrade job while you (or a tech) has the gearbox open..
