Good start for the Irish in the Dunhill Links Championship:

    - GMAC is 5 under
    - Harrington is 4 under
    - Lowry is 4 under (after 17)

Could be a chance for these guys to get a win before the season is over.

McIlroy only 4 off the pace as well.

Delighted to see Paddy H back in form. Maybe he needs to spend more time playing in Europe............

Apologies, didn't mean to jinx the Irish golfers :)

Paddy H's work with Pete Cowen seems to be paying off a bit. Hopefully we get 4 solid days from him. He has a good record in this tournament.

Interesting to see that GMAC is moving from Pete Cowen back to his old coach. I guess every golfer just needs to freshen the team up every now and again.

Agreed I think he needs to get back to basics, although he was well off the pace in Austria last week

Have been thinking that for a while I must say, he really should just spend a good few weeks in Europe, back to basics, and try get into a run of form.

There has been significant signs of improvement since he moved to Cowen. No bogeys yesterday - good to see.

Mc Ilroy burning up the front 9 in Carnoustie, -4 for the day after 5.

Tom Lewis backing up his Open performance with another good showing. He has Colin Byrne on the bag which would be a big bonus for a young player.

Probably put the mockers on him but Harrington is still yet to drop a shout.

    Some seruious scoring today

Chris Evans must be some bandit, himself and Dougherty are -23 after 39 holes. Dougherty is only -6 himself.

I remember him playing on a TV Ryder Cup style show a few years ago in Celtic Manor and he was well able to play!

They seem to be taking these courses apart. Harrington is -3 for his first 9 holes (no dropped shots) and he's actually dropped four places!

The scores are mental, its going to be a shoot out tomorrow.

Luke Donald is getting ridiculous at this stage, 63 today again. It must be close to one of the most consistent seasons of any player ever.

Looking forward to the last round big bucks and Ryder cup points on offer
    Any one for Irish 1,2,3.....

On a side note saw mc Ginley on fri his game is in rag order but what bugs me is why can't he ever get a sponsor to make a hat that fits him,he looks as if he's wearing his dads cap

He looks like a right muppet with one ear tucked under the side of his hat....

I'm sorry, but that is one of the more ridiculous statements I have heard in some time :pac:

Looking very like a N.Ireland winner. Harrington not having the birdie fest he had yesterday so far.

It's a Northern Ireland shootout. If one of the 3 wins then it will be 5 wins on the European Tour this year for golfers from Northern Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Hope Michael Hoey can win it.

Well done Michael Hoey; he played the good shots on the last holes when he needed to.

Michael used to play in Shandon Park in Belfast where his father and uncle were also excellent amateur golfers.....all three won the North of Ireland Championship held at Portrush. Michael won it in 2000 defeating Colm Murphy (Clandeboye) in the final. Colm beat a young Graeme McDowell in the semis that year.

    I digress.........congratulations Michael.

Delighted for Michael Hoey - great win(wire to wire) in a very strong field. Didn't see it but he seemed to be chased down all day by McIlroy and finished very strong to win by 2. He's jumped over 170 places in world rankings now and into the top 15 of the R2D too. Very well done!
