Im going putting down some membrane with stones on top of it this weekend so im just wondering, what depth do I go with the membrane?? And rather than leave the stones there bare I'd like to put down some shrubs, even just one or two to take the bare look off it, what would be best this time of the year, given Ice Age III may well be around the corner?!?!

are you going to put membrane on lawn? if yes, better spray all grass with weed killer and let it die before you put membrane. and before you put membrance dig up soil in those places where you gona plant shrubs, later will be easier to plant. when you put membrane tight it to ground with pegs, on the top of membrane you need to put at least 2.5inch depth of stones. now is good time to plant shrubs, make sure you water them well when planting

    Pics say more than words.
At least a 2 inch covering of bark mulch or pea gravel/stones.
