Haix boots have been mentioned in a few threads before.

Anyone have any experience with Haix work boots?

I'm looking to get something that can double as a work and hunting boot?

I wear them all day every day.
Good comfy boot. The steel toe ones would be a bit heavy for hunting IMO.
There are better boots out there for around the same money.

I wear them as my work/chainsaw boots.
Superb comfort and quality, but pricy.

    Thanks lads for quick replies.

What other boots would you recommend as being better?

Meindl eagle's are a great all round boot.
Nice and light, don't sweat your feet as much as the Haix and good ankle support.

I wear the Haix montana all year round unless it like 20+ degrees out ( in Ireland mind). the climat control system keeps my feet dry. it basically works by pushing the hot wet air out of the tongue and pulls cold dry air in at the collar every time you take a step, like a bellows. It may not be suitable though cause it is not safety.

    http://www.haix.com/international/hunting-boots/haix-montana

    Pros
    1. Fantastic ankle support
    2. gortex waterproof breathable lining, keeps feet dry
    3. climate control, keeps feet at the right temp
    4. arch support
    5. really sturdy boot
    6. two year guarantee

    Cons
    1. took me about a week to a week and a half to break them in
    2. gets a while to get used to the lacing (got it down to about 15 sec a boot atm)

If it is safety and light weight you are after i would suggest the Airpower R3. I dont have a pair but customers rave about it.

    http://www.haix.com/international/workwear-boots/haix-airpower-r3

    Pros
    1. Lightweight (for haix you have to hold a pair to understand) about a kilo a boot
    2. gortex waterproof breathable lining, keeps feet dry
    3. climate control, keeps feet at the right temp
    4. arch support
    6. two year guarantee
    7. Cool looking red laces
    8. Fully EN345-S3 compliant, safety toe and kevlar midsole

    Cons
    1. Not as high as some of their other boots
    2. how do you feel about cool looking red laces

If you tell me what you work at there might be a more suited boot out there. if you want to talk about it you can call me on 04782400 ask for Gerry.

    Gerry,

I got a pair of Airpower X11 in the end - ordered them from you last week :)

So far I'm very happy with them. Comfortable, waterproof and red laces can't be seen because of mud at this stage!

What do you recommend for cleaning & conditioning leather? Am using Dubbin at moment.

Good Choice. X11 in the boot. Hard wearing unit that. In cleaning the boot here is what I do with mine.

Your gonna need some HAIX Polish....... Its in the post to you should be with you tomorrow. Same address as the boots ok? smile.gif

To start with the boots must be dry if its really bad you could hose them down and then let them try NATURALLY at room temp. Any attempt to force dry leather will cause it to crack and deteriorate.

    1. Take out the laces and clean them in some water.
    2. With the laces still out brush the whole boot down and make sure you get into the part under the laces where the soft leather around the tounge joins the hard leather of the boot. You need to get any dust out of there. If you leave it in it will act like sand paper and will eat away the leather and the goretex lining (Its also almost the only thing haix will not Guarantee on so it is VERY important that you keep this as clean as you can).
    3. Use a damp sponge/cloth to get any tougher dirt out.
    4. Dry with a paper towel.
    5. Lash on some of the Haix polish it comes in a tube a little like toothpaste only much thicker and with sponge on top to apply it.
    6. let it dry for a bit then buff it out.
    7. Stick the laces back in when they are dry.
    8. Put your like new boots back on your feet and do what you do.

    Regards
    Gerry
