    Hi guys,

I have noticed while i do situps that my neck seems to feel the workout more then my abs to the point where i have to stop the situps completely.

I have been told to make sure my back and neck stay in a straight position and even while doing this i still get the feeling.

The annoying thing is i could keep working out my abs but i just feel to weak once my neck starts felling this way.

Also i have tried many types of ab workouts but each execrise seems to bring on the same effect.

Anyone else have anything similar or have you heard of such a thing?

I'm not a fitness instructor, but have you tried crunches first, when you are lying on the ground pick a spot on the ceiling, and keeping that spot in sight raise from there, when you are doing it correctly you will feel in only in the abs.

Maybe, if you have a friend that goes to a gym you could ask them to check your posture, this is can be difficult to get right.

I used to get all sors of pains from situps but I find the workout that this guy instructs is good and works all the right muscles without the pain

Try tucking your neck in next time.

Hold a tennis ball between your chin and chest, stop if it falls out.

keep your hands off your head too.

    Simples.

There's probabaly better options in regards core training, but if oyu're gonna stick with crunches - do the above.

way better options and I would only do them with clients that can do the bracing or hold movements well first without losing midline

is that because core strength is static strength so static exercises help the core ?

yes and no - as it relates to sit ups - i find that people generally focus on just getting the numbers done and going for the burn. Added to that we also have the big issue that most people have fairly ****ty thoracic mobility which crunches and sit ups are only going to promote with forward flexion.

    Some sit ups = grand

Putting in more bracing movements (plank variations, pallof presses etc) which could help you transfer over to the big compound movements = win

Some basic faults in plank position as its something i see all the time -

Problem is most people THINK it look straight but most of the time its not being held tight enough
