I'm more sickened by your poor grammar. I might cut your head off with a chainsaw and see if that improves it.

The sad part is, that was one of the first websites I ever did see. A baptism of fire botched electrocutions, you might say. :(

I can probably guess the site your own about.

Many of these sites have their servers located elsewhere (many are here in Europe, like the Netherlands.) where specific laws don't prohibit them from hosting such material. Though the site I imagine you're on about is hosted in the US, same craìc there about laws depending on state.

Many of these sites have banners showing what solicitors are representing them in keeping them up (Free speech and all that) and are kept alive by monthly donations from members.

You can't be done for viewing these in this country, as morally wrong and disturbing as they may be.

Plus, I don't know what you expected to see when the headline probably mentioned a decapitation with a chainsaw. The video itself is from a Mexican gang, they seem to like trying to outdo each other in killings.

I'm going to go ahead and presume that OP was on liveleak or theYNC or something linked from 4chan. Probably not illegal to watch here but possibly illegal to be hosted on servers in certain countries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Cianos

Dunno why people seek out and watch those vids. If I met you and said "how're ye? Wanna come round the corner I've got a chap tied up and I'm going to chop his head off with a chainsaw"...I doubt many would be on for it.

You made me google something there. Needless to say, I got to the homepage and clicked the X button.

That **** shouldn't be allowed. Note to others - dont go there. Horrible ****e.

Yep, same here. That website was the very first thing I ever saw on the internet. My friend showed it to me when he got a computer for the first time. After the 10 mins it took to connect to the internet we spent hours looking at that site. Some fúcked up stuff on there.

Probably a good thing that it took ages back then to load a single picture of a highway Mexican gang shotgun victim.

    Liveleak?

Afaik - and I am obviously not a lawyer - these videos aren't really illegal in Europe or the US. Disturbing and depraved, yes. But not illegal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

I doubt it's Liveleak, that site doesn't really show as much gorey videos as other sites would. Especially that chainsaw video.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,938 ✭✭✭mackg

Just saw a picture of a guy with half his head blown off by a sniper in Iraq, hadn't looked at that kind of stuff in a long time I remember why now.

Due to this thread I HAD to go to liveleak even tho I cannot stand any of that sh1t - But I cant find much untoward there, a few omg moments but nothing excessive!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,054 ✭✭✭luckyfrank

No it's not liveleak, i dont know if it's against forum rules if i say the site but some of the stuff there has to be illegal, now i admit it does warn you before you enter that there is disturbing footage and my curiosity got the better of me, but i never expected the stuff i saw, and also there seemed to be some sort subscripition for other videos so these guys are making money, which again leads me to ask how can they run a site like this with obvious illegal videos, surly if there is a money trial they can shut it down

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,571 ✭✭✭7sr2z3fely84g5

Depends on which country hosted in/their view on such violence, like public executions in some countries would seem as norm, some videos on sites are fake but well staged, wiki summed it up on legal-
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snuff_film
Documentary film makers and television news crews have also captured footage of executions or accidental deaths. The resultant footage is not usually considered to constitute a snuff film because the deaths were not enacted in a for-profit film.

Liveleak today has become more of a medium for the release of uncensored news clips from the Middle East and on the ground footage with troops/rebel fighters. While I won't give links, it's sites like theync among others that can be very hard to stomach

Is it really illegal to cut someone's head off? Well, I've certainly learned something new today!

That's the one I was thinking of. Harsh site and not one you'd stumble across by accident. The videos aren't strictly illegal either, despite the obvious wrong doings that happen in them.

There are other websites and forums like it that show far more gruesome material than what you see on that site but they're locked down to memberships. You mainly get, but not exclusively, Mexican / Brazilian gang videos and traffic accidents on that site you were on.

A good example of why parents should monitor their kid's internet usage but, in the end, you did hit Agree on entering that site and watched the video. That site is full of dumbass racists too.

Take from it that you now know things like that exist on the internet and it isn't a place to let a kid roam freely about on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,478 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

nah think it's x, it does warn you before you enter the site and gives you a description of whats on there.

What were you honestly expecting? I looked at some of what's available via links mentioned elsewhere on this thread...you find videos with explicit names like "Man tortured to death and humiliated by Syrian army" and "ANOTHER Beheading from Mexico, Los Zetas interrogate and behead a member of the Gulf cartel in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas", to mention just a couple...it's not like you accidentally clicked on some innocent link and were suddenly confronted with this stuff; you CHOSE to watch these videos through to the end. I chose to not watch them at all.

And since I have no interest in seeing what's in those videos so I am quite simply not going to watch them either. And as a result of that, I'll sleep perfectly well tonight. It's not rocket science. Curiosity is one thing, and accounts for a certain amount (like getting as far as the video titles and thumbnails, which can be pretty shocking themselves), but seeing videos with names like the above, clicking on them and then watching them through to the end...to be honest, I'd be wondering as much what that says about the person who watches a video like that, with full foreknowledge of what they're about to see, as what it says about the person who posts the video.

WTF? this is like when christian rightwingers say "I watched a 90 minture porn video, and then two more, and I'm horrified and disgusted at them so I had to watch 5 more after that".

If you didnt want to see it, what did you think it was??? Why didnt you stop?

Me, I have the most internet-exposed job in the world and I've never seen "2 girls one cup" etc. Or any of the others.

Websites like that are a doddle to have closed, but even easier to open back up again. The human race has to learn that its each of us individually who chose NOT to watch or go looking for it that matters. Control your own intake of content. Once we do that, these websites will wither and die because there just wont be a demand for their gross output.

But again how does a site like this stay online ? Whoever owns the site should be locked up

Unless the site's owner went out and committed the murders and recorded them for his own profit, then I don't see how that could possibly be true.

Hmmm. There's a lot of links to theYNC on porn sites. Innnnnnnteresting. Your first aul beheading video will always wreak havoc on the brain but give it another twelve or so then you'll be set right.

    Wow, great post.
People go on about the merits of censorship blah, blah.
But you never hear of the merits of self-censorship.
It's almost like "it's out there, ergo i'll watch it".
What really annoys me is the boasting, promoting culture that springs up around this ****.
Eh, OK, you watch this, stfu about it.
It's not a measure of how hard or edgy you are.
Apart from anything else, it's just fcuking tiresome.

/and fcuk off with any "hard" puns.
